The work
- • Prepare and cook exceptional food for Lake House guests from relaxed breakfasts to elegant private dining
- • Create and serve beautiful afternoon teas for guests at the retreat
- • Deliver bespoke menus for exclusive-use bookings, weddings and private celebrations
- • Bring creativity, calm confidence and a love of seasonal cooking to a small team
- • Work closely with the Gilpin Hotel kitchens on sourcing, produce and recipe development
- • Maintain impeccable standards of food safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance
- • Build strong relationships with Cumbrian producers, growers and foragers
- • Own mise en place, service flow and pass standards at the Lake House
- • Coach and support any junior colleagues assigned to the Lake House
- • Help shape thoughtful, memorable dining experiences in an intimate setting

- • You have solid chef experience at rosette or luxury country house level
- • You love cooking to a high standard for small numbers of covers
- • You have a strong respect for British seasonality and local produce
- • You enjoy the variety of breakfast, private dining and afternoon tea cookery
- • You are calm, consistent and a pleasure to work alongside
